MONTHLY TIPS & INFORMATION
TURF CARE: - Complete a soil test. Contact your local County Extention Office at 1-800-ASK-UGA-1
PLANT CARE: -Transplant shrubs and trees
-Prepare beds and vegetable gardens for plainting
- Prune Papmpas grass to 12 inches
- Prune apple trees, pear trees, and grape vines
TURF CARE: - All Lawns: Apply pre-emergent to prevent crabgrass, goosegrass, and other summer weeds
PLANT CARE: - Fertilize shrubs and trees
- Apply final fertilizer to annuals Perennials
- Planting and/or fertilize perennials
TURF CARE: - Fescue Lawn: Apply first general fertilizer application, make sure to follow label directions
- Apply lime per soil test recommendations
- Seed/Overseed Fescue Lawns
PLANT CARE: - Apply weed control granules to beds
- Prune and Fertilize Roses
- Prune Crape Myrtles and Ornamentals
TURF CARE: - Apply fertilizer to all lawns in mid to late April, after the frost
PLANT CARE: - Plant and fertilize annuals after the frost
- Plant vegetables
- Fertilize roses
- Fertilize perrenials
TURF CARE: - Apply post emergent if neccessary
- Water your lawn, establish a watering schedule based on rainfall levels
- If you did not in May, aerate and/or dethatch your lawn
PLANT CARE: - Inspect your plants, trees and shrubs for Japanese Beetles
- Apply insect control if needed
- Continue planting perennials and annuals
- Fertilize roses, annuals, and perennials
TURF CARE: - Apply post emergent if neccessary
- Aerate and/or Dethatch your lawn for maximum nutirent absorption
PLANT CARE: - Inspect your plants, trees and shrubs for insects
- Apply insect control if needed
- Continue planting pereenials and annuals
TURF CARE: - During this time of hot weather, make sure your lawn is receiving enough water
- If you did not in May or June, aerate and/or dethatch your lawn
